Behind The Swoosh

Today in class we watched a video about Jim Keady the founder and co-directer of Educating for Justice. Jim studied theology at St. Johns and coached for a professional team. When the team was offered to be sponsored by Nike, Jim being the strong willed catholic refused to support and wear Nike apparel and was fired from his job. He went to Tangarang Indonesia with the co-founder of Educating for Justice, Leslie Kretzu. They lived off the under paid wadges of Indonesians working in Nike's sweat shops. They lived in a 9x9 cement box with no windows, air conditioning, two thin mats to sleep on, and just enough food to get through the day.
